Hello, and thanks for visiting! My name is Steffan Triplett. I’m a Black nonfiction writer and the author of the hybrid memoir Bad Forecast and the essay chapbook Constraints. My essays and cultural criticism have appeared or are forthcoming in Vulture, Longreads, Lit Hub, Alta Journal, and It Came from the Closet: Queer Reflections on Horror. I was an inaugural Outpost Fellow, a National Book Critics Circle’s Emerging Critics Fellow, and have received fellowships and support from Lambda Literary, Cave Canem, Callaloo, Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh, and the Blue Mountain Center.

I’m the Managing Director of the Center for African American Poetry and Poetics (CAAPP) and a Teaching Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

I currently live in Pittsburgh where I’m working on my next memoir-in-progress This Isn’t What I Want and the hybrid project In-Private. I was born and raised in southwest Missouri.
